CHATTERBOX CHAMPIONSHIP TERMS AND CONDITIONS

General Event Overview: The Chatterbox Championship (“Chatterbox Championship”) is a series of golf qualifiers with a championship. Each one-day golf event is comprised of two-person teams playing a 2-Person Scramble format, with the championship event featuring Match Play. The events are open to all golfers 21 years or older who meet the eligibility requirements. The course date and start time are subject to change.

Eligibility and Rules of Golf: The Chatterbox Championship will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf, with specific outliers noted below. The events are open to all golfers 21 years or older who meet the following participant restrictions:

  • Out of Town Ringers: No participants can participate with an address outside of 150 Miles of qualifying golf course.

  • No Tour Professionals

    • Any player who has made more than one (1) start on the PGA Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, or PGA Tour Americas (including former PGA Tour Canada/Latino América) within the last 15 years.

      • Note: This includes anyone who has competed in any Major Professional Golf Championship

  • National-Level Club Pros: Any PGA Professional who has qualified for the National PGA Professional Championship (PPC) within the last 10 years.

  • Active Mini-Tour Players: Anyone who has earned more than $1,000 in professional prize money (Mini-Tours, State Opens, etc.) within the last 5 years.

  • Active Collegiate Golfers: Any player appearing on a competitive NCAA (D1, D2, D3) or NAIA roster for the 2025–2026 season.

  • NIL Athletes Allowed: Unlike previous seasons - NIL Athletes are allowed to compete, so long as they do not have no other eligibility issues.

In the spirit of Chatterbox Sports’ mission, the goal is to provide a local, weekend warrior competition, eliminating those with a significant competitive advantage. An official USGA-sanctioned handicap is NOT required to participate. Participants assume personal responsibility for ensuring that their amateur status under PGA/USGA rules is not adversely affected by participation. Local rules and Chatterbox Championship rules will be provided by each course and Chatterbox Sports will be available on-site upon request.

Questions regarding the rules of golf, local rules, Chatterbox Championship rules, and scoring will be settled by a Chatterbox Sports representative.

Format & Layout:

  • Format: 2-Person Scramble for qualifier events & Championship Bracket. The team with the lowest gross score will move to the Championship.

  • Tie breakers for any qualifier will be a sudden death playoff on a hole of Chatterbox Sports discretion. If time or situation does not allow for sudden death, a CTP or Scorecard Playoff will decide a winner.

  • The Championship event will feature Match Play format at a TBA Site on September 27th, 2026.

  • 2v2 teams competing over 9 holes, and winners advancing to the next 9 hole match. Competitors will play a minimum of 9 holes, maximum of 36 holes on Match Play day.

  • Teams: Co-ed teams are accepted, including Men, Women, and Super Seniors (70+).

  • Course Layout: Men’s tees are expected to measure 6,200–6,800 yards. Women’s and Super Senior tees will be reduced by 500 yards from the Men’s tees.

Rules:

  • 2-Person Scramble: Each player tees off, and the team selects the best shot. Both players hit from that spot and repeat the process until the ball is holed.

  • Putting: All putts must be holed; no gimmies are allowed. Players must mark their ball on either side when putting to ensure the second putt is played from a nearly identical spot and does not get closer to the hole.

  • Lie Improvement: Players may improve their lie within the length of a scorecard, except on the fringe or green surface type. Players may not move their ball from one surface type to another (e.g., from rough to semi-rough, or semi-rough to fairway). If a ball touches two surface types, it may be played from the preferred type.

  • Tee Options: Women and Super Seniors (70 years+) may play from the forward tees as designated by tournament officials.

  • Mulligans: No mulligans are allowed.

  • Scoring Limit: Double bogey maximum per hole.

  • Local Rules: Local rules apply and will be defined before competition.

  • Any score cards not matching the scoring officials, and competitor scores will be disqualified.

  • Final Authority: Chatterbox Sports will have an on-site director in which is in charge of all matters.

Entries/Registration Fees: Space for each local event is limited, and entries will be accepted on a “first come-first served” basis. Registration fees are non-refundable, non-transferable, and all sales are final. Your registration is a license to attend a specific event you have purchased the ticket for, and such license can be revoked at any time if any of these Terms & Conditions or any host golf course code of conduct are violated by Participant. Entries do not include the greens fee of each course and must be satisfied upon arrival.
